I am 31, in the prime of my life, and have had Psoriatic Arthritis for 5 years.?
I am also a a tennis pro, but the arthritis is getting to the point that even teaching is becoming difficult with swollen joints in my elbow in my playing arm, my ankle and in all of my metatarsals in my feet. I can no longer play tennis anything like I used to and lose matches to people I should easily beat.
I've tried Glucosamine, Omega 3, I exercise regularly and commute on my bicycle every day, but I am still in pain despite taking 12-16 hundred milligrams of ibuprophen every day.
AM I kidding myself in thinking that things will get better and I can persue my career path, or should I cut my losses and move on?
If you have psoriatic arthritis, you should be under the care of a rheumatologist. There are some new prescription treatments on the market now that work for many of the autoimmune disorder. Remicade infusion is one of those treatments that has been shown to be effective in stopping the progression of diseases such as Psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease, ankylosing spondylitis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Yes, there are sometimes side effects, as my husband takes Remicade treatments for AS, but the majority of persons I've talked to have no problems taking this med.
Please see a doctor before your condition gets worse. There are treatment options available.
Edit: Just had to add this warning after doing a bit of "surfing". Limu and Limu Plus are "herbal" quack cures that claim to cure everything from arthritis to dementia. I know. I used to be a dealer of the junk myself. I was fooled into believing some of these outlandish claims myself. I became a distributor, buying cases of the junk for my poor mother, and for my husband's conditions as well. The only thing it did for my family was to relieve us of hundreds of dollars, with no improvements in anyone's conditions. Take heed. Stay far, far away from this expensive, glorified, juice.
